'EYES EVERYWHERE' AVAILABLE FOR PREORDER

My third book and second novel, EYES EVERYWHERE, is available for preorder.  This story depicts a father's terror as he comes to believe that a bioterrorist is conducting experiments on his children.  Worse, his co-workers--and even his wife--might be in on the conspiracy.  Can Charlie Fields save his toddlers from the mysterious CalPark Biotech corporation and its haughty chairman, Philip Duke?

"This is a brave exploration of the frequently misunderstood world of a paranoid schizophrenic. Through Charlie Fields, Warner provides a vivid and accurate portrayal of the insidious nature of a most devastating and difficult-to-treat mental illness."
-- David B. Reid, Psy.D., Licensed Clinical Psychologist

"This is the type of novel that puts writers on the map, and deservedly so. A stunner."
-- Gary Braunbeck, author of IN SILENT GRAVES

NON-FICTION

Six "Author's Notes" columns have been reprinted in the EULOGIES anthology, published by Horror World.  The columns are:

"I'll Have One Large Blood Shake and a Side-Order of Stereotypes, Please" (first published Nov. 2004)
"Now for the Moral of This Story: Don't Swim in the Company's Pool With Your Manuscript" (Dec. 2004)
"With the Eyes of a Writer," companion column to "With the Eyes of God" short story, also reprinted (May 2005)
"Hit the Books to Write a Hit" (Sept. 2005)
"10 Fun Things I've Done as a Horror Geek" (Oct. 2005)
"To Be or Not To Be a Reader" (Nov. 2005)

Meanwhile, "Author's Notes" has moved to a quarterly schedule to give me time to finish my latest novel--a monster story that brings back one of the main characters of THE ORGAN DONOR.

My March 2006 column turned out to be a huge undertaking because it was a topic close to my heart and rooted in my past: "My Summer with a Book Doctor: An Internship at Edit Ink, a Notorious Scam Operation" details my unknowing association a decade ago with one of the biggest bait-and-switch scams in publishing history.  This article turned out to be my most widely read so far, with about 2,000 readers in March.  Here's the link: http://www.horrorworld.org/warner306.htm

HEADLINE TRANSPLANTS

My first book, THE ORGAN DONOR, is a supernatural thriller rooted in Chinese mythology, but it's also partly based on a true story . . . one that's still ongoing.

As I detailed in the article on my website, "It's Not Fiction: China Harvests Body Parts from Executed Prisoners," the People's Republic of China has for years harvested the organs of its own executed prisoners--against the donors' wishes--for resale to wealthy foreigners at more than 100 hospitals.  This sinister trade is rooted in a deep corruption of China's legal and medical systems and has been the subject of hearings before the U.S. House of Representatives.

Last month, the PRC scrambled to save face in light of reports of a secret death camp in the northeastern Chinese city of Shenyang, where Falun Gong practitioners have allegedly been executed for their organs.  An official of Canada's Green Party compared the camp to something from World War Two and suggested that Canada question its participation in the 2008 Olympic games in Bejing.  See http://english.epochtimes.com/news/6-3-30/39881.html

Also, in response to the deaths of several foreigners who traveled to China for transplants, the PRC last month passed new regulations requiring that donors give written permission.  The BBC article reporting this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/pr/fr/-/2/hi/asia-pacific/4853188.stm) contained the following gem from a PRC spokesman:  "It is a complete fabrication, a lie or slander to say that China forcibly takes organs from the people given the death penalty for the purpose of transplanting them."

Perhaps in rebuttal to this lie, The Epoch Times International came out with a series of investigative articles on China's continued organ trade in contravention of its own laws:

"Organ Trade Booming in China"
http://english.epochtimes.com/news/6-3-15/39332.html

"Majority of China's Transplants Come from Prisoner's Organs: Executed prisoners are a steady organ supply"
http://www.theepochtimes.com/news/6-1-30/37564.html

"I Have Been to the Execution Grounds to Extract Organs from Executed Criminals"
https://english.epochtimes.com/news/6-4-2/39999.html

I hope you'll take the time to explore the above links.  It's a tragedy that tens of thousands of people die every year while waiting in vain for suitable transplants, but China's solution to the supply problem ranks up there as one of the more disgusting forms of evil in our world.

"Love Matt Warner's school clubs--'In Crowd,' 'Out Crowd,' 'In Crowd,' 'Shake It All About Crowd.'  Of course, Matt looks the same now as he did in high school.  I think he's an alien plant.  Without the xylem and phloem."
